What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Which is exactly why I am not telling you about my late night shenanigans. Instead, I’m going to drop a little knowledge on the best ways to spend your days in Vegas if you’re sick of walking the strip with a yard drink (aka a massive drank) or are feeling a little water-logged from too many pool parties at the Wet Republic. Unbeknownst to most, Vegas is actually filled with a ton of activities and experiences that don't involve clubbing. Here are 5 seriously cool, seriously sober things to do in Las Vegas!
The Neon Museum
If an experience is what you’re after, this is it. I highly recommend you visit the neon museum near Old Vegas and learn a little about the colourful history of the city, the art and science of sign making, and take a dope photo shoot while you’re at it. Seriously though, fave thing I’ve done in a while and I’m not even a museum person. Plus, it’s easy to wander to Fremont Street after to meander your way through the wacky - but wonderful - Old Vegas strip.
High Tea With A View
Are you looking to just sloooow down in the fast pace of Las Vegas? You might want to ball out and spend $50 USD to enjoy high tea (with the most scrumptious of snacks) and a stunning view at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Tea Lounge. I know the price is steep, but I promise you it’s worth every penny. Favourite. high tea. to. date.
Gamble Your Heart Out
There's nothing quite like wandering the Las Vegas strip. Give yourself a reason to walk it by becoming a gambler for the night - cha-ching!
I avoid embarrassment at the blackjack table by heading straight for something less skill-testing like roulette. The slots aren't so bad either since they're as easy and cheap as putting 1-2-3 pennies in a slot. Also, since we're treating this as a sober activity, you're going to gamble that much smarter. #amirite?
The High Roller
Take in them #views! If you’re not afraid of heights, grab a spot on the High Roller Ferris Wheel that opened in Vegas in 2014. With a totally small height of 550 feet tall, you’ll be able to see the entire strip from an eagle-eye view. I’ve only done this during the day, but I think the night lights would also be quite a site.
Bonus tip: I know this is about sober experiences, but what’s one glass of champagne? One of the cabins has a "happy half hour" deal where you can enjoy an open bar for the ride. Picture yourself gazing the Vegas skyline with a glass of bubbles in hand - what could be better?
Shop Till You Drop
Real talk, you could easily spend an entire day shopping in Vegas if you have dolla billz to burn. The premium outlets are only a twenty-minute cab ride from the strip and get you deals on deals at Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Coach, Gap, Levi’s, Saks off Fifth Ave, Diesel and Nike, among many others. I personally have a sunglass obsession and scored a new pair of Ray Bans on the cheap during my last visit.
You know what new shades mean? Hit the pool to get some R&R after a hard day at the mall. Treat yo self.
There are an infinite number of things to do in Vegas - with and without alcohol. So, please be a gem and share your favourite sober things to do in Las Vegas with me below. I know this won’t be my last visit to the city of sin and I’m always on the hunt for new experiences.
