I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.
Just kidding, I’m absolutely not! Which is why I'm happy to be spending my holidays in a sunshine-filled wonderland that goes all out for the holidays. Arizona boasts three totally Phoenix holiday light displays that you won't want to miss if you're in the area in December.
Seriously though - growing up in Calgary, I’ve had my fair share of snowed-in holiday breaks. Hence why these days, I pack my sunglasses in my suitcase and head down South to visit Santa in Arizona.
And, if you think that it’s not festive enough in the desert, you’re dead wrong. I’ve had the chance to check out a number of Christmas activities and I am nothing short of impressed.
But, if I had to pick favorites, these three Phoenix holiday light displays would be among the top south-west holiday attractions. Make sure to pop by - #noregrets will be had.
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
Here's Where You Gotta Go:
Go modern at Las Noches De Las Luminarias:
When it comes to Phoenix Holiday Light Displays, this place is top of the top. If I had to use two words to describe the place they'd be words like magical and elegant. That's saying something.
The grounds of the desert botanical gardens are lined with 7,000 candles during this famous December event. Not to mention, musicians are setting the holiday mood with performances throughout the gardens. Non-member tickets go on sale in early October and sell out quickly. AKA: plan ahead.
Go family-friendly at the Zoolights:
This is one of the biggest holiday displays in Arizona where you’ll find over two millions colourful lights strung throughout the zoo, including some seriously cute animated animal displays. It’s a family-friendly spot with carousels, wagon rides, and even a stingray touch tank. So, grab a hot chocolate and stroll with the #famjam.
Go funky at Lights of the World:
This international festival is all about attacking your senses - in a good way, of course! Combining the traditional Chinese lantern festivals with modern technology, Lights of the World does an excellent job at showcasing a variety of cultural displays from around the globe. You might even learn a thing or two this holiday season! Check it out if you want to switch things up.
Let me know what I should check out next year in the comments below! I'm always looking for new ways to light up the holidays.
